alfabeto morseL’immensa sete di conoscenza e la curiosità mi ha oggi portata a comprendere e di conseguenza anche riportare, che cos’è il codice Morse e quando fu inventato.

L’importanza del codice Morse si è compreso solo qualche anno dopo la sua scoperta, quando si è capito che attraverso questo alfabeto, molti messaggi che sarebbero dovuti rimanere nascosti potevano essere comunicati senza che la maggior parte delle persone potessero accedervi facilmente.

Codice Morse: come, quando e perché della nascita di un sistema di linguaggio che ha fatto la storia

Il codice Morse, detto anche alfabeto Morse è un sistema per trasmettere lettere numeri e segni di punteggiatura per mezzo di un segnale in codice ad intermittenza.

Un curioso uomo di nome Samuel Morse cominciò a dedicare gran parte dei suoi studi a questa complessa disciplina nel 1835, ma nonostante la sua passione per questa nuova scoperta fosse profonda fu grazie a tecnico Alfred Vail che l’alfabeto Morse potesse prendere realmente vita.
Vail lavorò fianco a fianco di Morse dal 1837 e solo l’anno dopo, grazie al sacrificio e al costante studio di questo codice, i due studiosi misero in atto la prima prova pratica.
Il giorno che segnò un cambiamento nella storia del linguaggio fu quando il codice Morse venne presentato alla commissione del Franklin Institute of Philadelphia: l’8 Gennaio 1938 venne impiegato l’uso dell’alfabeto Morse grazie al telegrafo scrivente.
In sostanza il codice Morse è una forma ante litteram di comunicazione digitale: a differenza del codice binario che utilizza solo due stati, da 0 a 1, il Morse ne usa ben cinque ovvero punta, linea, intervallo breve che si ha tra ogni lettera, intervallo medio che è tra due parole e intervallo lungo tra due frasi.

Il codice Morse ebbe un successo incredibile per le comunicazioni marittime, fino al 1999: era un sistema di codifica infallibile e fu il protagonista anche di molte storie di spionaggio che ancora oggi faticano a sembrare vero.

Il primo consiglio che vi lascio è quello di trovare l’alfabeto morse da stampare a questo link.

Scaricate la tabella che trovate e cominciate a guardarla attentamente.
Noterete da subito che la difficoltà principale è quella di memorizzare le lettere tenendo in considerazione che si tratta di punti, linee ed intervalli.

Testo da convertire in codice morse

Vi chiederete a cosa può servirvi apprendere l’alfabeto Morse, e la risposta effettivamente dipende dalla vostra curiosità verso un modo di comunicare totalmente diverso. Provate però, per un secondo a pensare di trovarvi in una situazione complicata e non potete fare nessun gesto o segno particolare per dire a qualcuno di aiutarvi, come fate?
Conoscere il codice Morse può essere un grandissimo vantaggio, poi vale in realtà anche per situazioni di pericolo se volete lanciare un SOS.

Se per esempio voglio lanciare un SOS come faccio? Non sono un’esperta ma a quanto pare è forse la cosa più semplice da spiegare, ad ogni modo la combinazione dovrebbe essere questa:
SOS = —…—
Interessante vero? Immaginate che volete comunicare ad un’amica di aiutarvi per liberarvi da un tipo troppo chiacchierone, se le avete insegnato l’SOS di Morse siete salve. Potete strizzare l’occhio 3 volte,fingendo magari col noioso di turno di avere un tic, e poi fare pausa e riprendere a strizzarlo.
In questo caso però due sono le cose, o l’uomo che avete davanti vi prende per pazza e vi lascia andare prima che siate voi a farlo con lui oppure lui conosce il codice Morse e la vostra amica deve avere davvero un’ottima scusa per salvarvi dall’imbarazzo.
Scherzi a parte, conoscere un codice così complesso può essere molto d’aiuto.
Un altro esempio di testo da convertire in codice Morse? Eccolo:

Ricordate che qualsiasi codice da sei a più punti, vuol dire errore
